At the BETT conference in London, England
on February 1, educators, students, and others will pitch their ideas to leaders
from companies such as Pearson, Leaf Investments, and EdSurge. It’s too late
for you to apply to pitch your idea this year, but you might be interested in
looking at the requirements as you think of creating your own startup for
products or resources you know will work with students. BETT is not the only
conference that includes competitions for good ideas, so if you are interested
in putting your creativity to work, when conferences are announced, check to
see if they include times when you can pitch your ideas to the right people.
There are also special events for presenting new ideas (not just for
education); you can find them by searching with keywords such as pitch and
startup.
An example of a startup is Outthink Inc., which is determined to
prove to kids that science is cool. By giving students real-world challenges
and helping them put their creativity to work with the tools of science,
mathematics, and technology, Outthink wants to inspire the next generation of
super scientists.
