Are you interested in designing badges to encourage excellence in teaching? In Stage One, teams of educators submitted ideas for a badge system designed to provide feedback to peers who are teaching in the areas of mathematics, literacy, and digital literacy. In addition, attention to the Common Core Standards was required. Stage One is now over, but educational teams are invited to compete in Stage Two which is based upon the winning ideas from Stage One. Stage Two of the Teacher Mastery and Feedback Badge Competition is due by February 3, 2012 at 8:00 p.m. EST. The competition is for “People who don’t mind creating a whole new area of research for the rest of us to explore.” Submissions should include a 1500 word proposal and visuals (video, diagram, screenshots, etc.) The proposal must feature content alignment, badge information, use of technology to create badges, and teamwork. See winning ideas for inspiration. Awards range from $5000 to $250,000.
