Media and Learning (DLM) selected ten projects to share
$1.7 million. These projects include Click!
Online, designed to help teen girls connect for STEM activities, peer
networking, and gaming; Conservation
Connection, in which students in the Chicago area and in Fiji work
virtually to save the coral reefs; EcoBugs,
where kids can monitor the health of virtual bug species; and FabLab, for exciting possibilities for
K-12 in engineering, digital fabrication, mathematical modeling, invention
…. Other winners are: Hole in the Wall, e-based learning in
India; MetroVoice where students from
Los Angeles create video and TV screen banners about their neighborhoods; Mobile Action Lab with its collaboration
for community change; Nox No More, an
environmental education game that integrates personal information into the
gaming; Scratch and Share to engage
students in development of the future of software; and YouthApp Lab that puts high school students in D.C.to work creating
software and apps. Online voting until 6/4/10 will determine how much funding
each project receives. Be on the lookout
for these outstanding learning lab projects in the coming year.
