Kids love comics and those who love to draw enjoy it when
teachers approve the submission of a “comic” for a science, social studies, or
literature project. Students put a great deal of time into most “comic”
projects, and they have fun using their imaginations to create something
different than the traditional report. Besides using comics as an option in
reports, teachers can put them to work as an effective motivator in classrooms.
To find out more about comics in the classroom, read teacher Jack C. Wilson’s
paper “A
Casual Comparative Study of Students’ Reading Motivation after Reading Comics
in the Classroom” and take a look at The Graphic Classroom blog, Comics in the Classroom.net, and Kids Know It
Network Funny Pages. —Don’t forget Plasq’s
Comic Life software, which lets your students create comics with photos.
It’s a super program and very easy to use.
