Jeff Edmonds, Digital Learning Environment
Blogs, Technology & Learning,
suggests the prerecording
lessons gives more one-on-one time with students. When
looking for a way to provide more feedback to his seventh grade math students
at Catherine Cook
School in Chicago, he decided to prerecord lessons
(using software that allows him to capture strokes of a stylus and audio at the
same time) and email them to his students ahead of time. While the students
work on the lessons on their laptops, Edmonds
goes around the classroom to work with individual students. His students work
directly with him on one or two of the problems and then at the end of the
class session, there’s time for group questions and explanations. Edmunds
explains that he doesn’t do this type of lesson every day, but when he does,
it’s a great way to help him understand how to help each student.
