As budgets tighten and we look for ways to save energy, Lightspeed Systems has introduced a green solution, which helps schools save both energy costs and natural resources. Lightspeed's automated energy conservation software, called a Power Manager, can save schools between $25 to $75 a year per computer. The Manager works by powering down unused computers. It is estimated that it costs $125 to power a computer per year, and when hundreds and often thousands of computers are involved, cutting costs like this can make a big difference. Schools that work on power-saving procedures may also qualify for "green" rebates from local energy companies.
