If your school uses Macs and you have students who could benefit from speech-to-text (dictation) software, you know how frustrating it has been that such a thing did not really exist for the Mac. Well looks like that's going to change. The Dragon speech recognition engine that's only been available on Windows machines is going to be released for the Mac in mid-February. MacSpeech is designed to work with virtually any application, supports multiple voice profiles and requires about four minutes of voice input to train to an individual's particular way of speaking. Accuracy for any voice recognition software depends a lot on the user's own way of speaking, but now Mac users will at least have a chance to use the best voice recognition engine on the consumer market.
