There are lots of reasons why ed tech isn't where it could be in most schools. One of those involves lack of support for teachers and other staff in the school. Sometimes IT people cover several schools, and even if there is a tech person assigned to a school, unless the school is very small, how is it possible for that person to take care of everything digital? An article in eSchool News, Schools Need Help with Tech Support, reports that many tech leaders can't keep up with software installations, can't maintain networks as they should, and have difficulty implementing new technologies. While businesses generally hire one tech person to cover fifty computers, some school district IT people have to cover thirty times that many. How about your school? Is tech help available when it is needed? Are you turning to others for assistance-like students and teachers?
