The downfall of Rep. Mark Foley and his salacious IM chats with and emails to young Congressional pages has created another good opportunity to talk to your students about online safety and not being seduced by adults in positions of power in their lives. It also should serve as a warning to potential cyberbullies (and a comfort to their victims) that instant messages (IMs) and emails may be quick, but unlike other forms of communication like the telephone, they are stored somewhere, and even if deleted, can be retrieved at some later date.
