Local students get unique learning opportunities courtesy of Power to Learn and C-SPAN.

Students at Jericho High School in Jericho, NY and Deer Park High School in Deer Park, NY got a visit from the CSPAN Election 2008 bus as part of a Power to Learn program bringing both the bus and CSPAN VOD election content to their schools.  The VOD content includes the presidential and vice presidential debates as well as convention speeches and highlights.  The CSPAN bus experience, dedicated to spreading the word about C-SPAN Classroom, the network's free service for civics and government teachers, offered the students the opportunity to learn about CSPAN’s unmoderated, unfiltered  content and to engage in a discussion of the workings of our federal government and the current election. 

Additionally, Jericho High School students visited the site of the final presidential debate at Hofstra University with Power to Learn.  Congresswoman Carolyn McCarthy joined the group, which received a tour of the media center and the debate hall.
