Congress is planning to invite more officials of social networking sites to Washington this fall to talk about proposed legislation on sexual predators on the Internet. Three areas seem to be under the most discussion: getting convicted sex offenders off social networking sites by requiring them to report their online identities including emails, handles, etc., severely fining sites that fail to report child pornography on their servers, and attempting to raise the profile of Internet sex crimes against children within the Department of Justice, including additional funding and the setting up of a new office dedicated to investigating online child exploitation.
