Safer Internet Day, a well-established campaign that's now marked in more than 100 countries, is on February 11 in 2014. ConnectSafely.org has been appointed the host and for more information you can visit their web site at www.SaferInternetDay.us.
This year’s campaign is taking an interesting twist. There will be no moaning and groaning about how being online is so dangerous for young people. Instead, co-director Ann Collins, wrote in a press release, “We plan to celebrate all the great things young people are doing to make the Internet a better place - or the world a better place with the help of the Internet." To do this, the folks at Connect Safely are asking young people to tweet about it, talk about it in a short video or podcast, post about it on Facebook, or send them an email via [email protected]. "On February 11, we hope families will talk over dinner about how they're making the Internet better," added Collier. "And we're encouraging parents to listen to and learn from their kids."
