Districts in the Metro Detroit area did a little research and found that the most recent teacher-of-the-year winners incorporated smartphone technology in part of their curriculum, so this fall many districts are lifting their complete ban on cellphone use at school. A district that piloted the lifting of the ban last year also discovered that it freed up tech-savvy teachers to incorporate smartphones into lessons, while cutting down on the resources spent disciplining kids for having cellphones. Where does your district stand on cellphones in the classroom and how do you feel about that as a parent?
Mobile cell phones are creating distractions for students in the classroom. Students were only allowed to use their mobile cell phones before or after school. In the classrooms, on breaks, in the halls and on lunch there was a complete ban of cell phone use in school.
