You may want to keep an ear out for what happens with the Federal Communications Commission's National
Broadband Plan. It hopes to connect 100 million households to affordable,
100 megabits-per-second service in the next 10 years. Such speeds would permit
high-definition videoconferencing and medical diagnostics and other futuristic
technology applications. It would also be an affirmative move to giving low
income and rural communities digital service equity.
