The video game industry is getting better at keeping inappropriate games out of the hands of minors, according to the National Institute on Media and the Family. In fact, according to the NIMF, parents are the ones who need the most improvement. The idea that all video games are made for kids and other false perceptions often leads parents to be careless about what their children are playing. (This reminds me of the family that proudly told me their four year old twin’s favorite game was “Halo” – a rather violent adult/teen oriented bestseller.) Take a look at the report on their site and while you are there – as the holiday season approaches – download their free Video Game Buying Guide.
