Until now the gaming industry has focused primarily on hard -core gamers. Just saying those three words "hard core gamers" sets up a rather scary picture in most parent's minds. But now the gaming industry is turning to what they call casual games to snare even a bigger audience. They want to elevate video games to be the entertainment equal of television or better. To do this the industry is looking for more innovation, more education of the consumer about what can be downloaded and work on devices like mobile phones, and perhaps even a new model for what constitutes casual games - now defined as titles that are friendly to new or occasional users, and are intuitive and accessible. Should be interesting to see what is coming down the pike.
