An interesting article in the New York Times called Even in a Virtual World, ‘Stuff' Matters discusses how in even virtual worlds like Second Life people feel obligated to make purchases of clothing and other objects just so they "fit it." For teen and adults, the pressure to keep up with the Joneses is just as severe, if not worse, online. Do you or your kids participate in Second Life or other online worlds? Is it an escape or is it just a reflection of the status quo?
