Acorns, acorns everywhere!!! Instead of buying wastemful plastic counters to use in math, our third grade class has collected buckets of acorns from the ground. Now, we're going "nuts" learning division! We make up stories about squirrels sharing their acorns... some into equal groups... and some with remainders, or leftovers, to store for next winter!
This isn't the best idea, you are taking away from the squirrels food supply. They burry the acorns and eat them throughout the winter. You should use something else like pennies or bottle caps.
