The folks at the Pew Internet and American Life Project have released a report about a survey they have done of technology experts and the results will not surprise most parents of teens and children rising through life as daily partakers of technology, but there may be some lessons within. These experts say that the Millennials, as this current generation of teens and young adults is called, who have had a constant connection to each other and recognizes that most of the information they need and want is at their fingertips, will be nimble, quick-acting multitaskers who count on the Internet as their external brain and who approach problems in a different way from their elders. Overall, the experts see the effects of this hyperconnectivity as positive – at least for now. As this generation ages though, experts warn they will exhibit a thirst for instant gratification and quick fixes, a loss of patience, and a lack of deep-thinking ability due to what one referred to as “fast-twitch wiring.”
