Gift registries aren’t just for weddings and birthdays anymore. At DonorsChoose public school teachers can post online requests for equipment and supplies. Supply Our Schools allows teachers in low-income school districts to register for school supplies. Gold Star Registry is yet another site that lets parents, PTA/PTOs, and other community support organizations to make similar types of donations. These sites could be one way for you to help support technology in your school directly. You could start a gift registry for a particular project your school is working on to attract contributions for people outside the school as well.

Using online gift registries are such a great way for struggling organizations to get the things they really need! My daughter's after school program was in desperate need of new computers and desks for the students last year, so one of the volunteers used myregistry.com to request the things they needed. A local newspaper picked up the story and in less than a month, they had everything they had requested. It's so nice to see people pitch in to help the community!
